I am Julia.
I help support people in their search for the authentic part of themselves. I work in private practice, from my practice room in Hertfordshire, online, by telephone and face to face.
I am a qualified and experienced Person-Centred Counsellor, but I do integrate a wide range of techniques and theories, tailoring my approach to suit you. My practice offers counselling, mindfulness, therapeutic shamanism, sound healing, creativity and compassion.
As a former body work practitioner, I can see a strong connection between mind, body and emotions. I aim to work in an embodied way, encouraging my clients to be more grounded in their own bodies and connect to nature and our World with respect and gratitude for all living beings that share our wonderful planet Earth.
Why work with me?
I have experience of working with people with a wide range of concerns including loss, bereavement, the pressure of caring, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, general growth and personal development. I have a particular interest in working with people who stammer. I am not a speech therapist, I am not qualified to help you work directly with your communication and fluency but in exploring feelings associated with stammering such as fear and anxiety. I have a stammer myself and have used my daily mindfulness practice to turn my stammering into a positive self care tool and gain a deeper understanding of how I tick.
I am a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and The National Counselling Society (NCS). I have done training with Cruse Bereavement Care, the College of Sound Healing, Breathworks Mindfulness and trainings in Psycho-spiritual and Therapeutic Shamanism.
I am a Certified Cyber Therapist and trained with the Online Therapy Institute, who provide a high level of training for counsellors and psychotherapists working online.
I have worked as an Adult Learning Tutor, for MIND teaching Mindfulness courses and with Watford Women’s Centre as a Counsellor. I have delivered Mindfulness, Meditation and Relaxation related trainings at the Women’s Centre and for Herts Carers. Until recently, pre Covid, I was supporting Carers at Watford Memory Cafe, run by the Watford and Three Rivers Trust. I have worked extensively online with people sharing mindfulness programmes.
I am fully insured and committed to a regular programme of Continuing Professional Development and monthly Clinical Supervision.
