What is Mindfulness?
It’s a lot more than just relaxation. Mindfulness is a way of paying attention to what is happening to us in each moment. It helps us to become more aware of our feelings, learning to observe them. This way we can learn to respond to what is happening, rather than react to what is happening. Responding gives us time to think and make a better choice, rather than reacting blindly with a knee jerk response. This allows us to deal with problems when they arise helping us to be less overwhelmed.
How do you practice Mindfulness?
Through meditation, simple movement, and in your everyday actions. Mindfulness is being kind to yourself, being open to your own experiences and learning to observe your sometimes critical dialogue, rather than being in the midst of it.
Who would Mindfulness and Meditation help?
Anyone and everyone, but you need to practice it regularly for a few weeks, a bit like exercising in the gym, to see if it could help you long term. However research has shown it can help with stress and anxiety, depression, chronic pain and illness and sleep issues.
A mindfulness practice can improve self-esteem and self-awareness. Regular meditation can help with physical health too as it has been shown to reduce blood pressure and encourage your immune system to work better. It also helps build self-confidence, encourage self-acceptance and self-compassion, and help you cope when difficulties come up in your life.
How can I help you build and Mindfulness and Meditation practice?
I can support you in exploring and understanding how Mindfulness can help you.
